Default Tires: anyone run 225 and 245x16?

Hey all,

My SC has the ca.80s BBS 3-pc 7 and 9 x 16" wheels, and 245/16 rear size seem to be going the way of the Dodo. Anyone here still run these tires sizes?

a) what tires have you found in these sizes?
b) have you been forced to changed your tire sizes?

And no, I am unwilling to replace/buy new wheels so am seeing what you folks arrived at as a solution to this 16" dilemma. BTW, I am currently on Hankook R comps, but am looking for a more streetable tire that can still be tracked occasionally (the car, like my life, is tipping the bias back the other way ). TIA gents!

The Bridgestone potenza Re11 comes in that size. I have a few buddies that use it for the ocassional track day and perform very well for a summer tire. For a few more dollars you can get into the Toyo RA1, which I personally think its a very grippy tire that is very streetable as well. Also very long lasting for an R compound. Both available at tire rack.

Greeeaaat lookers there, gents!

Thanks for the recs! I knew about the Proxes RA1s, but never tried em. I must've missed the RE11s, though ...thanks for that! Pirelli?...hmmm, I never look at them in the past because of price; will give them a look. With so many folks hopping over to 17s, I'm glad to see some are still using their 16s in this size ...I appreciate it guys!

excuse the gratuitous shots ...you've goaded me into it with those beauties of yours

The Pirelli P-zero is a a very soft R compound, very track oriented, camber loving, that I don't think I would trust much on rain. So even though it comes in the size you need, it doesn't fit the bill in the compromise "all around tire" you seek.
