Default Color Code

I have an 86' coupe and am curious about the actual color. The color code is L998, however I believe this must have been a custom color as it does not appear on Paint Scratch's web site, nor does it appear in any publication that I've found. It is a pastel lemon yellow. It's a beautiful car as the yellow is accented by black fuchs, trim, rock guards, spoilers and dark tinted window. (Don't have a digital camera or I would post a picture.) Have seen only one other with this color, in the SLC area. Any ideas?

Must be a custom colour. This is what I find for 86's:

STANDARD: guards Red 027, black 700, pastel beige 536, dark blue 347, marble grey 673, gp white 908

SPECIAL ORDER: garnet red metallic 822, crystal green metallic 33N, white gold metallic 539, prussian blue metallic 33x, moss green metallic 20c, iris blue metallic 33p, nutmeg brown metallic 492, meteor metallic 961 and silver metallic 936.

cheers

Christian

I just read last night (forgot where already of course...) that L999 was the code for "customer supplied paint sample - match it". But you are one off...

Thanks Christian and Steve!

I double checked the color code last night and it is L998. Anyone else have an idea of what it is or where I can go to find out?

You may want to check color code 10 for 1987. It is Summer Yellow. Based on your description, it may be your color.

Where do you get those wheels? Must be some new type of aftermarket ripoff of fuchs wheels.

jc87911 & Mark,
Thanks for the input. I'll be checking out the color.

Casey,
They are not an aftermarket ripoff. The wheels came on the car from the factory. Maybe I should have said that the "5 spokes" on the wheels are black with the rims being chrome. I've seen hundreds of these on various 911s, so they are not rare. Actually a while back I checked the back of the wheels as I was confirming the width (for new tires), and they are fuchs, verified by fox head, j with the porsche stamped part number. Here is a link to a tech article that shows a picture of what I have on the car.

Jim,

I think he was referring to your spelling mistake...

Thanks Tim,

Wow, I didn't even catch that, a-duh... boy do I feel stupid (guess my mind is/was somewhere else - no, not there - well maybe...).

Sorry, hope I didn't offend anyone....

Funny. I was referring to the spelling mistake. I have the same wheels on my SC. Diddn't offend me, just gave me a good chuckle.

Thanks Casey!

I believe my face turned two shades of red when I re-read what I had written!
