Default market question for two 911s

what do you think a 84 targa conversion to convertable cabriolet . (nice job on the conversion) will go for now in decent shape, but has had a little mod ............it looks like a C2, all but the rear engine flap is not automatic.
150k miles

as a side note, i have a friend with a 1970 911T and he seems to think is worth $70k as is... rust on the floor boards /runners... engine has been out over the years so the numbers are not going to match. runs decent. shows its age for being 45 years old . are they really going for that much?

Hagerty is your friend.

Let's call it a #4. It sounds as if it might not even be that good though. $32,000 is the best he can hope for.

This
appears to be a nice one and it's at $52,000.

it appears that 911 prices are flat right now. It'll be interesting to see an analysis of the Scottsdale numbers. I suspect they'll be low because there were a lot of mediocre cars out there.

On the first car, can you elaborate on "decent shape"?

Based on how you describe it $70k seems awfully optimistic. Maybe if it was an E.

Cousin is buying a zero rust '69 E that's all there, but needs paint + interior refurb in the $40s.

Lots of structural differences between a Targa and a Cab so unless one added all that additional stiffening, such projects are less than the sum of their parts.

You guys are lucky to have those rust free cars needing work. Finding any early tub around here is guaranteed work. Haven't seen any E's for a number of years although I know a couple sitting under piles for 20 years in peoples garages. Really is a shame they won't let them go.

For a 70 T maybe half??. Very little interest in the LWB T's here although we have a lot of people building RS clones dumping serious money into them and will be worth some $$ with proper 2.7 engine and upgrades. A lot of work has to go into them but they all need to be stripped to bare metal and a lot of work before the project can begin. Interesting to find hidden damage on some of these and how well covered up it was from 30 years ago.

Although I had a friend that had an L that was completely rotted (Fred Flintstone brakes) out he sold for $25k I was a bit shocked at that number considering how extensive the rust was everywhere.

Running driving T projects needing paint and rust are $25-35k. The maybe part was he could reach for half that $70k.

It doesn't sound as though it is running and he says non matching numbers. It all depends on how extensive the rust and how complete the car is. Parts are getting harder to find. I guess we got lucky with the 72 we picked up for considerably less not that long ago.

Especially for a 72. A 72T is a far more interesting car than a 69-71T and worth more. 2.4. MFI. 915. Oil tank side fill. As a finished car one is 20-30% more than a 70.

Yes, another interesting year. There's Euro, US and US 73.5 with CIS. The last is worth the most because it's the first CIS car.

No affiliation just one of numerous solicitations I get each day. Since it was a 71T I figured I would post it for reference.

Scroll down to the 71 T
