Talking Purchased 87 Coupe

With no service history at hand, I will have major service done to establish new baseline. Leakdown showed less than 10% (all 6) and everything else looked to be in good shape with new brake pads to boot. All power options, roof, windows, wipers, lights/fogs, etc...all work with the exception of a fussy up/down driver power seat function which will be looked at next week. Otherwise, having come from 2 996's as last daily drivers I'm supper excited about this car!!!

Very cool! Love the color - I gotta ask - what is it with you guys with 996's? You have a few of them - then sound as excited as a school girl when you buy a 1987 - 1990 Carrera... Do you get as excited with the "other" 911's or are they more just cars?

Very nice and congratulations. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with it. Very different beast than the 996's - A whole new driving experience.

Now just make sure that your wrench gets rid of that Fram oil filter during the service, and uses the German part that should be used!

Have fun,
Tom

Looks Great!! I've thought about getting another 3.2 at somepoint, now you've made me jeolous. What a great car. For me, my only concern would be the a/c here in the AZ summer. Mine was never good but I also never looked into any mods to improve it (heard there are some available).

Enjoy ... and thanks for the pics!

I've driven early SC's and 964's and although it may sound like jumping on the bandwagon, (993's aside of course)....of those models, the 87-90 with the G50 just FEELS right. Seat of the pants first, curb appeal a close second is how I decide. From age 12 my dream was to purchase a new Porsche before age 30 and as luck (and much hard work) would have it, at age 29, I walked in to the dealer and plunked down big $$ for a new 1999 996 working from the basis of "buy the newest 911 you can afford". That might be oversimplifying it a bit, but having come from BMW and in need of a daily driver that also served as comuter car for 2-3 trips (often in the rain) from Seattle to Vancouver a month, I thought the 996 would be better suited than the 993 would be. Also, all the 993's were long gone and the gorgeous Ocean blue 1998 C2S was selling for a HUGE markup. Ironically, a new 996 was less $$.

Either way, I appreciate the engineering, not the status. I drive so much because it brings me joy, not because I'm going from a-b. I've experienced the watercooled cars, am excited to start over with this one, and have every expectation that a fat bummed 993 is in the cards too!

Makes sense - and I agree the 87-89 catch the true essence of the 911 - especially the 87 with less of the options. Great G-50 - a little lighter with less options. Stick a Steve W chip in it and you have one fine sports car. Congrats again...

Congrats on a fine looking example of the 3.2 vintage. I hope to find as nice a coupe to compliment my cab.

What color is the interior of that beauty?

It could be the same as my '86, which is a "gray/green"
