It's right there in your picture of the bottom of the engine (can't totally make it out): 901 XXX XXX 7R

That certainly makes sense. You would need a painter to make it correct. No rattle can here. You can try to find a chrome set for simple installation or, once you get through your high priority issues, you might agree that the H4 assembly is gorgeous and you would have a thinner chrome ring on that.

The engine issue is interesting. If I read it correct, one guy says its an aluminum 3.0 liter and another states it is a magnesium 2.7 liter. Do I have that correct?
Once back together, drive it and enjoy it !!!

How about telling us the color code?
I believe it should be in the boot (trunk/frunk) on the passenger side.

You are reading everything correctly in regards to the engine. And about the headlights, if I find a set of H4 headlights for a great price then I'd make the switch. I can't wait to take her out for a drive.

Here is what I found under the trunk and the door jam.

new additions to the car, a pair of Corbeau GTS II seats and a momo steering wheel. The seats are temporary replacements while I get the originals reupholstered.

The 930 tie-rods are actually cheaper than the 911 ones and offer a better steering feel as well as outlasting the original OEM ones.

Not a bad deal for the money, I would say.
The better steering feel is more likely the result of the alignment after installation.

However, that being said, I would agree that the 930 tie-rods are an improvement as far as having only one lock-nut to deal with, like all cars today, instead of two.

Cheers,

Joe

Didn't order a COA, I sold the car last week. Drove a 964 and liked how it drove a lot better than my '77. So I'm now looking for a 964 coupe or targa with a manual transmission
