I will however share any additional costs I run into and provide my total cost.
From the repair list you described I have a pretty good idea of its cost and have to conclude that you landed an exceptional deal.

I am hoping I don't get too many surprises for additional repair items. I really think I will see something pop up, and that is expected, I am just hoping the costs won't be really great. Do I need to be concerned about steering racks or fuel injection systems with this car? For a car that sat for 15 years where is the greatest possibility for issues?

I suspect that engine will be out in no time to be resealed.... If it sat that long it will likely leak like the Valdez

Steering rack, absolutely not. (And not even a point of discussion when you get familiar with the cars.)

CIS? Hell yes. I don't work on them anymore, but even 20+ years ago they were getting to be a pain to bring back from the dead, especially here in CA.

I'm guessing your work quote is in the $8-10K range. Don't be surprised if, at retail, that gets to pushing double.

Thanks to everyone for all of the informative and positive bits of advice and information.

While this car is all apart, and in the rebuild stage, are there any improvements I should consider? I'm thinking this would be the best time to do any engine, suspension, etc. upgrades.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Depends on how much you want to spend.....964 Cams, new pistons 9.5:1 or 9.8:1, SSI's, muffler, Euro ride height, transmission re-gear.

It looks like this car was delivered new without the fog lights. How big of a deal/cost would it be to have these installed. I really like the look of the cars where they have them.

You need to check if the mounting area, wiring and dash switch are in place. From there, go to pelican parts.com and start adding costs.

A suggestion. Just get it running properly and drive it.
Enjoy the car and do a bunch of investigating on P car sites about options/mods for a later date once you have a real feel for what you want to do.
Otherwise you may be doing and undoing projects.
