Engine swaps present a whole set of challenges relating to the quality of the conversion. As they say, the Devil is in the Details so everything warrants close inspection.
In general, such issues are rooted in ignition and fuel delivery problems so this is where to begin the troubleshooting process.
Make sure the plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor are all in PERFECT condition. If you have no record of when they were replaced, install all new parts. You cannot fix a fuel problem with a resident ignition one.
After that, check the fuel filter, fuel pump delivery rates, DME relay, and in-tank fuel filter.
There are lots more, but this is where to begin the process.

Voltage Regulator.
Steve is always right. ....that said, I'd replace the DME relay first. It should be under the driver's seat if the transplanted electronics where placed where they would be in an '84. It's the small (1"x1") square black thing next to the computer. Buy two new ones while you are at it. They go bad. And check your grounds.
