After 15 years or so, my battery tender has crapped out on me, so I need to replace it. Are there any brands or models out there that you would recommend highly, or alternatively, brands or models that I should avoid?

I've been using a Schumacher SpeedCharge 1.5-Amp Maintainer for 4 years with no problems on a double digit year battery that fires every time.
You can get them at your local flaps for under $35 but Walmart and Amazon have the same one for under $25.

I have probably 4 or 5 of the Battery Tender Juniors. I was a bit skeptical of the first one, but it did well, and that was 5 years ago, and been using them ever since. They are compact and seem to work just fine. I cannot complain about their performance or price.

I use the Battery Tender: http://www.batterytender.com/Chargers/
I keep the clips on the battery all year and use the extension to plug in for the winter.

Thank you all for the replies. Decided to go with the Deltran Battery Tender Plus unit that I think is the one Rodney recommended--got it for just a bit more than the "junior" one goes for.
What seems clear is that these things have advanced a fair amount in the 14 years since I bought my last one. Not least is the miniaturization--this new one is a quarter the size of my old one, which I had to push back a ways in the trunk if I wanted to leave it in the car.
