Default 87-88 carrera and cup wheels

Hello,
I'm just wondering if the newer 17" or even 16" cup wheels can be fitted on the 3.2 Carreras? Is it direct fit or has to be modified? If there's pictures, please post. thanks

You would need spacers or you can always purchase a replica that is the correct offset.

Here is a photo of my '87 Targa, which originally came with BBS wheels, and which I changed to Cups. Required wheel spacers front and rear, but worth it to me for the change in appearance.

Yup, 17's. Re.: Targa Top: Just a little water ingress when I wash it, but I haven't had it out in the rain yet. My mechanic knows that it is my daily driver, so he said "Just carry a towel in the rainy season." We'll see what happens this winter...

hello,

those of you that have late style wheels on your carreras, do you have any idea what the offset is on the stock fuchs alloys? and what size spacers did you need to use to make the newer wheels fit? i have bought some 16x7 and 16x9 with offset 55f and 70 r and nobody seemd to know what size spacers i need.

thanks

Brandon,

My Cups are 17x7 55 Front and 17x9 55 Rear. My wrench not only wanted to provide clearance on the inside of the tire, but also wanted to 'fill the fender flare' with the tire. He used 2cm spacers on the front and 3cm spacers on the rear.

I'm not sure if this is a the proper calculation for offsets, but I am assuming that your 70 rear offset is 15mm more dished than my 55 rear offset? As such, you might want to use a spacer a little wider than 3cm in the rear? But a 3cm will probably be good enough.

Just kind of a guess on my part, not knowing wheel offsets and that stuff too well...

Tom
