Hi ! Does anyone know the alloy/metal used for 1980's era intakes?
Hi !
I am trying to determine the metal alloy composition used by Porsche
in the 1980s for their intake manifolds.
Specifically, I am trying to determine what metal was used for
casting the intake manifold on my 1981 928s euro?
I hoped maybe some of the experts over in this forum may have some insight?
I would like to know for purposes of plating my manifold.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Iceman !
Hi !
I have posted the same question on the 928 page, but with no definitive answer so far.
I hope you guys don't mind the post over here, I know that there is a lot of knowledge to be
found all across the board.... I do believe you are correct, the runners are almost certainly cast aluminum from my research so far...
Thanks again for you time !

I know that on the Carreras the runner/ intake is cut open got porting then re welded. I would have to think that is aluminium too no ?
