1987 911 Tires

Doesn't sound right to me. I picked up Conti DW's recently, and I think there were some other options. But the DW's were highly recommended.
What shows up on Tire Rack?
If I am not mistaken, Z was an older speed rating from the 80's which has since been superseded by other (and higher) speed ratings that are no longer applied as part of the tire designation. I would look for any high performance summer tire, all of which will meet or exceed a Z speed rating. Then choose one based on your assessment of recommendation, cost, brand, longevity, performance, noice, etc.
The R, by the way, refers to a modern radial tire.
Cheers

FYI, I also have 205/55ZR-16 Continental ExtremeContact DW and 225/50ZR-16 Continental ExtremeContact DW summer tires and I got those recently (April 2015).
My indy mechanic recommeded the Bridgestone summer tires as they would stick and handle better but they are also substantially more expensive and (I've heard) don't last nearly as long and I do not plan to track my 911.

Plentidue of Tire Offerings
That statement is not true. There are four internet pages of tires listed for Porsche 16 inch wheels on Tire Rack.
On our two 911s, we are running DUNLOP DIREZZA (a Z Speed Rating) and BRIDGESTONE RE-11 (a V Speed Rating). Both are sticky, with the Bridgestone more so, very good on the street, and both are excellent in Florida rainstorms.
Go to Tire Rack's Tech Section to read about Speed Ratings, as in example Z, V, W, and Y. Our 911s, although in execellent condition, run out of breath well before a V rating of 149 MPH.
Read the Tire Rack Tests, the reviews by other users, and then make decision among a plentitude of offerings. It is a good time for 911s with 16 inch wheels. Type 2

I just got a set of Continentals for mine... was going to shell out for a set of Michelins but changed my mind last minute thinking of different wheels down the road. There were tons of options on tire rack.

Thanks for all the replies, I will head back to Tire Rack where I did my original search, that search turned up the Bridgestones and the Toyos. I'm not opposed to the 'stones, just wanted more options and have an interest in Continentals.
