Default Looking at a restomod... '77 Targa

Hey everyone! I'm looking at buying my first pcar for resto. Its a 77 targa with no motor/transmission. The top may be from a different car. There isn't much rust however there is some around the pedals. I've loaded a few photos to see what you guys think. Since this car is missing a motor and transmission I'm thinking of fitting a 996 built (with IMS fix) motor and transmission swap as I have access to a good donor car.

You ready to significantly modify the chassis? Because a 996 swap is as far away from bolt in as it gets. Figure close to 5 figures just to install it unless you are a master sheet metal worker.

I'm ready to do a lot of chassis mods and will be taking the car to bare chassis and media blasting/dipping the car. I want to make sure I'm not over paying... what do you guys think this might be worth?

OK, so you want to take a total pile of crap air-cooled tub and fit a watercooled engine in it??? Really? And you've done this before? I can only think of one successful attempt at this kind of frankinporsche, and it was done by a world famous local tuner, and personally, I think...EDIT< EDIT ....but you go ahead. I'll try not to speak my mind.

OP, I went back and blew up the photos you posted and there is not a single part of that car that has a dollar of value. You will be throwing another $25,000 at that car IF you have connections inside the dismantling world. If you don't have a friend that owes you big time AND has a warehouse full of parts, God help your soul.

This is a pile of junk, stay away from it!
Buy a car in better condition and install a 993 motor, It will be a lot easier.

If for some reason you take on this project, I would stick with an air cooled motor. If you're wanting a 996 motor just use a 964/993 3.6 motor. Much much easier, did I mention easier?

That's where they hacked a hole for port added AC--all manner of "screening" was used.
