Default 1985 vs 84

Aside from windshield glass antenna what differentiates a 1985 from 1984 carrera? Are they essentially unchanged from1984 thru 1986? I believe g50 came in the 87.

The 1984 Carrera has the exact same interior as the SC it replaces. The 1985 model bring new seats with a higher back rest, new steering wheel and leather shift boot.

Dash vent, seat height and shifter changes were all in '86 iirc, there were one or two things in 85 but since I own an 86 I never really looked too closely.

shifter - my understanding is that in '84, the standard shifter was what is now considered a long throw. They offered a short-shift kit or option that reduced the throw by 20%. By '86, this 20% shorter throw was standard. In '85 they were half-way between the '84 and '86 in terms of standard shifter throw length (so about 10% shorter than the '84 and 10% longer than the '86).

I have an '85 and it is definitely just right.

Also, mid-year '85 there was a slight change to the transaxle so the CV joints are different depending on whether you have an early vs. late '85. Presumably that was an improvement, but I don't know that the earlier version was a real problem.

On an '85, the set belt recepticals are attached to the seat instead of the center hump.

Condition, color, and options are much more important than year in any 915 Carrara.
