Default Squeeky 911...

My '84 911 Cab. squeaks when I drive it or push down on the passenger side front fender. Sounds like a bushing, shocks, springs, etc. Suggestions. Thanks.

wheredoes the noise come from front or back? mine squeeks when i drive it over any bump, sit in it, push down on anything (you get the idea).. but thats a rear spring plate bushing, which is common on old 911s and 912's.
did they have those on the 84? if so you might wanna look there.

One source of front end squeeks on the torsion bar 911's is when the torsion bar cap wears down into the cross member, allowing the torsion bar to contact the torsion bar housing, and squeek. You can check this visually by looking at the torsion bar end cap and see if it's rubbed a shallow crater in the cross member. Fix is easy, just weld a 2-3mm bead around the bottom edge of the torsion bar cap, which will raise the torsion bar back up. Do check the torsion bar for evidence of rubbing, and paint over the rubbed metal to inhibit rust.

Harry,

Same symptoms, perhaps it is the rear. Hard to tell. "87 not '84 '84 was the 1st one. Squeaks also when I lean on the front fender. Thanks for the input.

JeffreyM, it could also be the rubber bushings under the torsion bars. After awhile theses can squeak quite badly. Look at them and possible replace them and other stuff previously mentioned to really correct the problem. It corrected the problem on my Carrera.
