WTB Dashpad for 1985 911
Looking for a black vinyl. I posted an ad over at Pelican and just wanted to ask my Rennline friends as well. I'm having my windshield pulled in a couple weeks and wanted to replace the pad then.
Alternatively, could I fit a 993 dash? They are all over eBay. I know the defrost section is different, but thought maybe I could make it work. The center AC vent looks so much better on the '86 and up.

Black vinyl is the standard replacement for the dash. Haven't checked prices lately, but probably about $1K or so.
I have a full Burgundy Leather int in my 84.... try finding that! These things all fail eventually, and are not cheap even from a dismantler.
I sent the original to Autos International, and they were able to straighten it out about 95% (not perfect, but pretty darn good) and recover it with matching leather... which looks very good.
It was about $1.2K, but well worth the money, as it matched the rest of the interior.
IMHO, you're into about $1K whatever you do, so I'd just buy a new OEM replacement.

Look around, but my guess is this is probably the best you're going to do.... if this is the OEM part for your year, swallow hard and do it... personally, I wouldn't mess with a used dashpad just to save a few hunnies...
Nothing makes your car look worse than a crappy dash-pad.

Amen to all you just said. I HATE looking out of my car because the dash is so trashed. IMHO, the dash is one of the coolest looking parts of the car.
"Hunnies" - I learned a new word today.

Let me look at one that I have... it will need to be recover but it is in a condition that it can actually be restored...it was one of the ones that I fixed but was not pleased with the leather and removed the leather from it... so it has glue residue... just need cleaning and doing again. It was the first one I did

It is this one...
Here is what I meant by filling the cracks... this is the first dash I did. This one had many cracks that needed repair.
Also needed to repair/install missing bolts. JB Weld is great for making these stay in place.
With the leather in place...

I do not have a photo of how it looks now with the leather removed... I was going to redo it just to have it handy in case I needed it for a future project.

Let me know if you decide to look for an alternative dash from 86 to 89. Though it might require modifications I have one laying around which is not cracked but a bit warped on the ac center vents. it might be recovered if you want a pristine condition dash. Let me know.
