Headlight washers
Are the headlight washers on my '84 911 run by the same pump as the window washers? If so where might it be located? If not what might be wrong with them other than the pump? More check valves perhaps? Thanks. JM

As the saying goes.."When all else fails, read the directions!" Jeffrey, for over 3 years, in vain I ditzed around with my headlight washers. Lo and behold, on this very sight I read "turn your headlights on" *L* Voila - the rest, as they say, is history (meaning they worked! *G*)

"The pump works, or at least makes noise, but no H2O on the headlights yet."
Yes... same with me. I'm assuming the tubes (both of them?) are blocked somewhere. I guess a good place to start looking would be at or near the pump. Where is this? And is the same pump used for the windshield washers too?
Thanks,
-MAS [77 911]

"The headlight washer pump is separate. On '83 vintage cars, it's mounted on the fluid reservoir, under the left front fender."
I will look on the fluid reservoir under the front fender tonight and report back. Thanks. JM

From one "upallnight" to another...
I know it simple but did you check or fill the washer bottle with water?
Just as simple as turn your headlights on if you want to wash them with the jet.
Yes, that one is covered. Thanks. JM

Looked for a pump in the fender, found the reservoir, but no pump. I guess, unless some one has another suggestion, I will investigate the lines coming out of the pump under the "hood." Unfortunately I have to take the battery out to do that. Anything I should do prior to removing the battery?

The pump is buried in the front of the tank. You probably have to remove the bumper, or the lower valance, to get at it. You can find the wires in the luggage compartment, near the battery. I forget the color codes, but there is a plug up there. You could try unplugging the pump, and connecting it directly to the battery to see whether it works.

Can someone please clarify whether the headlight washer actually runs of the same MOTOR as the windshield washer does? This is on an '89 3.2
I have no water to the lights, even when they are on!!
The windshield washer runs fine though!
Cheers,
Justin
