Not a big fan of hot-rod Porsches. Kind of like marrying somebody that has been divorced three times... do you really know what you are getting yourself into?
If done to a high standard, this could be a fun toy, but if corners were cut, it could be an expensive nightmare.
Plus, historically, non-stock cars have limited investment potential, and IMHO anybody spending the money for an air-cooled 911 should take this into consideration... hot rods (of any type) are typically worth only a fraction of their build cost.
This is what I call a "credit card" car... e.g. you have enough dough that $20K is an impulse purchase, no harm no foul.
But for us mortals, $20K will still buy you a pretty nice stock SC/Carrara... a much better buy in the long run.

I'll have to call my evil twin, and tell him to shut up.
Seriously, it's not a moral issue. I love R-Gruppe cars and 356 outlaws, its just that for most of us, its a financial hazard... hot rods typically sell for a fraction of their build cost, but if you never sell the car, you'll never "lose" money.

As a driver of a tarted up - hot rodded - low rent not stock kinda car - I can only quote Ferris Bueller -
"If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up"
