Not a fan of the targa, but the 3.6 transplant makes this look like quite a deal....if I were in the market, I'd be looking at this closely ! Am I missing something ?

I like the idea. I would like to do that to my car. I like the concept of seamless torque/ Hp. Second, no more valve adjustments. A standard 3.6 tune up and will probably pass smog. It is an expensive conversion.

Just the engine transplant alone is close to 10 K ... and the steel wide body conversion must have
been a few dollars as well !
If that were a coupe,it would be sold by now !

I think if i was trying to read between the lines he is saying it has similar power to a turbo, which would be the other way of boosting the original cars performance. Yet it doesn't have the turbo lag which that option has.

Not a big fan of hot-rod Porsches. Kind of like marrying somebody that has been divorced three times... do you really know what you are getting yourself into?
If done to a high standard, this could be a fun toy, but if corners were cut, it could be an expensive nightmare.
Plus, historically, non-stock cars have limited investment potential, and IMHO anybody spending the money for an air-cooled 911 should take this into consideration... hot rods (of any type) are typically worth only a fraction of their build cost.
This is what I call a "credit card" car... e.g. you have enough dough that $20K is an impulse purchase, no harm no foul.
But for us mortals, $20K will still buy you a pretty nice stock SC/Carrara... a much better buy in the long run.

Phil did you mate your 3.6 to a stock 915 ?
The one I was in had that but completely destroyed 2 gears in an off track incident strangely enough.
2nd and 5th.
Was one of the rawest cars I have ever been in.
