Default DIY: '89 911 - replace rear speakers, re-use orig grills

Hi RLers,
Replacing the shot rear deck speakers on my '89 911 Targa with intent to use the original grills and grill rings. The grill snaps on the integrated speaker/grill ring which is screwed to the rear deck. In addition, four bolts are embedded in the rear deck. The four screws and four bolts go through a metal ring under the deck. Process was as follows
1. Remove rear deck - four screws, remove the two side pieces too.
2. Unbolt speakers from deck. Also use visegrips to unscrew the 4 screws from the bottom as heads are under the grill. Now push pry the speaker/grill from the deck. They were very stuck. Do not remove grill, it will break!
3.On workbench VERY gently separate grill from speaker
4. Use Rotozip to cut speaker out leaving a new-speaker sized hole in the grill ring
5. Use Silicone to attach new speaker to old grill ring. Let dry overnight
6. Mount speaker from top. Screw (top) & bolt (bottom) retaining ring on underneath deck. Attach wires (change to new wire plugs that come with new speakers)
7. Mount deck. Add left and right side pieces
8. Put on grills
You are done! I ended up with a small 1/4" crack on one corner of one grill.

Pics:
1. View of speaker from bottom of deck. 4 screws and 4 bolts go thru metal ring.
2. Old and new speaker
3. Template for new-speaker hole on old speaker
4. Old speaker Rotozipped away
5. New speaker siliconed to old grill ring.

Thanks for looking
