Default 10k tachometer authenticity verification

I'm not up to par on the knowledge of the OEM 10k tachometers. I bought this one recently at a good price whether it be a reproduction or original equipment. Here are the pictures of it.

Looks like an original piece/container that had the face redone by one of the pro gauge rebuilders.
I've seen them done like this by North Hollywood or Palo Alto.

When you say original container do you mean it is a original 10k tachometer? If it is can you tell from what car? It was said that it had been reconditioned.

Thanks this far for the input.

Might be a redone 4 cylinder model (4 zyl) poss. from a 914 as the dates fit.

From the bird site...

"OK, both my Tachs are stamped 230/41/2 dated 2.72 and 6.73, with Porsche no 914 641 302 10 0013 silkscreened on the top of the face"

It's a 914 4 tach...redone.

Ok so it's not a original? Just a recalibrated tachometer from a 914? And not a 914-6

I would have no problem running that tach. I like it.

Does a 4 cyl tach work properly on a 6 without some kind of mod? It is a nice looking unit.

Lots of folks like that format but it wouldn't fit my car or driving style.
Can't rev my stock 930-10 anywhere near that level and mostly stay in the bottom half of that scale so it would be further down out of line of sight and take a more deliberate look than a stock one.
If I modify my tach I'd have a volt meter gauge added to the bottom side and keep the scale as is.

Here is a factory original PN:901.741.302.06
Original 10K tachometer is easily vetted by the "30,000" marking. The face on yours isn't correct for a factory original. It's likely a North Hollywood Speedometer custom piece. (they do great work, btw)
