Has anyone out there re-upholstered the interior with a deviated stitch color? Specifically for the door panels and the seats. Anyone in the Phoenix area?

I don't ever remember seing it on a classic 911 although I am sure it was done on some special editions.
Remember this are the same guys that didn't give you a cup holder coz you shouldn't be drinking while driving their car

Imagine if you asked for deviated stitching

I have seen some custom interior examples in early cars now in museums or trailer queens. To me they looked out of place. The early cars were 'all business' sports cars, not 'coffee & cars' poseur props.

Iceman,

Thanks for the opinion. Still, I would like to hear of some examples out there.

Me too actually

I hope someone has a few pics they can post. Do you have any idea of the costs to do something like this ?

Iceman,
I ran across a video in you tube when I was shopping for my car. That's what sparked my interest. It showed a brief shot of a black interior with light color stitch somewhat similar to a Momo Prototipo steering wheel. It had a factory steering wheel re-done the same way. The video was very short and hard to appreciate. I'll try to find the link to share it with you.

That would be cool

I think it would be quite expensive to have done afterwards no ?

Here is the link that I mentioned. I can't seem to find a way to contact the person that posted it. Any ideas?

dvelez2, I have not seen deviated stitching only pictures of inserts of various patterns. I had my 911 seats redone by Tony Garcia at autobahn in CA. Very high quality work! He is easy to talk too and I suspect they could add deviated stitching as part of such a job - imagine that they could do whatever you wish! Pic of my new seats:

Thanks for the info. How did you ship the seats to California? Can you share the cost for the shipping and the work done? Again, thanks for the tip. Will seriously consider it.

dvelez2, I shipped UPS which was about $240 from NC - much cheaper from AZ. I have also read about shipping seats with greyhound but can not speak to cost/details of this. The seats were about $800-900 each but this can vary depending on cost of leather that you select - he will send various samples. They will also recover your door panels etc as they are complete Porsche interior restorers. Auto International, also in CA, has great reputation so this may be worth phone call as well to compare costs. I have also seen some references to classic9 Leather interiors and may send them the bolsters that top off my door panels, my door handles and my glove box cover for recovering in black (for my car) but worth looking at their site for ideas as well. Their prices seem pretty reasonable.

My seats had all new hardware and were restuffed and I would regard them as "good as new" perhaps better (I purchased in 1992 so never knew it as new) !! Anyone that sees the car says the same. Removal and installation is not difficult - no electronics! Good luck.

I wanted to add the "before" pic as these were a nice upgrade.

Wow! Great work! How did you package the seats? Did you wrap them in plastic or something? I guess that I could sell the leather if it came off intact. I'm not sure that's possible. Mine are not in such bad condition, but the leather is hard and I'm not a big fan of their smell. I found another link with a contrast stitch example. I'll send it you you later!
Best,
DV
