Yes it is a good deal based on current prices jumping up due to dealer flips. A year ago this was a $25k-30k car, now dealers are buying them in the high 20s and low 30s then asking high 30s low 40s and then sitting on the car until they fund someone willing to pay it. Enthusiasts and collectors seem to be panicking to get one and the prices are increasing as a result (to the point of crazyness so it can't last. I'm about ready to jump over to a 240Z since you can get an excellent one for half the price of this).

This one is VIN WP0AB09126S120510 so let's hope this car ends up in the hands of an enthusiast and not a flipper. We will find out in a month or two on eBay for sure...

The seller of this silver 88 thinks it is a $39,000 car (based on email to me that he thinks it is a Condition 2 car based on Hagerty's description). What do you think? No mileage given.

I think the situation these days is that if you "think" it's a deal, so may others and the good cars sell right away. Taking the time to post the question on a forum for answers will probably result in loss of the car. As is the case here.

Good cars are going for all the money, however there are a few opportunities if you are fast and lucky, mostly lucky. There was a recent Craiglist post for a 89 Anniversary Coupe, I think one owner 34,000 miles listed for $34,000. By the time I received a reply from the seller and I was quick, a broker that posts under Lux in New York bought the car. When I called the broker to see if I could buy the car from him, his first response was he wanted somewhere in the $70's for this car, he later said he was going to hold it for 6 months and sell it after it appreciates more. I'm all for free enterprise, but Porsche enthusiasts' have very little chance to score a good car unless you pay all the money to a dealer that got there first. These guys have a network of people watching the internet, by the time we see the ad the cars are usually sold.
