Default New guy with an 89 slant nose. How can I tell if its real?

Total newbie. I inherited a car with a property. The vin is only 10 digits long and wont decode on the above decoder. It was listed as a 1989 Porsche 930 slant nose. From my limited research this could be a really rare car or maybe just a conversion? The vin is 9111110863

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

I'm by no means an expert but a quick Google search brought me to this VIN decoder (and there were several others listed):

Going through the VIN you listed, it looks to me that you have what was originally a 1971 911T with a Targa body style. So, it sounds to me like a conversion.

Yeah, no way, no how does Model Year 1989 correspond to that VIN.

The ironic thing is if the 71 was left original and in nice shape, these days it would have been worth more than the 89

Thanks for the clarification. I went to a decoder site and was confused becuase of the vin not having the 17 digits. Didn't think that it could have been an older car. Thanks for the help.

How were you led to believe it was an '89. Cuz the only things similar to what a '71 is, and how it was developed into the final iteration of the torsion bar cars for '89, was four road wheels and a six-cylinder engine located behind the rear axle.
