Biggest Fuchs wheel on a 72 T with RS flares
Greetings. What is the largest size and offset wheel/tire I can fit on my 72 T with RS flares? I am hoping one of you have experimented with this. Thanks for any help.
Best,
Don

Hi Don:
Just a clarification;,..... Are you asking about the largest Fuchs wheels that will fit, or simply the largest wheels (modular) that will fit your car?

Here's half an answer. By using 2-piece or 3-piece wheels made with Fuchs centers, you can fit 8x10 wheels with 245/275 tires on them. Here's a 73T with the same rear flaring you're talking about.
The wheels:
And on the car:
With unaltered Fuchs, I believe the answer is 944 8's in front and 930 9's in back. 225/245, max.
(The avatar under my name shows the next step, which is RSR/Turbo flares, with even bigger tires.)

In the back, Unaltered Fuchs 9x16, +15mm o/s w/ 245/45x16 tires fit very comfortably.
In the front, Unaltered Fuchs 8x16, +23.3mm o/s w/ 225/50x16 tires will fit w/ a bit of effort(most of the time)
I use 9.5x17, +19mm o/s w/ 11" section 275/40 tires. Lots of effort went into using this combination.
I keep looking for someone that can provide the o/s on the 10" or at least provide some simple measurements that would allow the calculation of the o/s, so far no one has stepped up to the plate.

Thanks guys for the info. This should save me some trouble. I will start looking for the 8 and 9 inch wheels. Will I have to modify the fender lips or will negative camber alone work? Thanks again all.

Am I safe to assume you cannot "roll" the lip on the front fender if it's fiberglass? I was thinking of putting GRF front fenders on my project if I end up building a real lightweight, but that will limit the wheel/tire I can safely put on the car....correct? Although I'm sure I'd be happy with 7" in front....
A little off the subject...has anybody used GRF front fenders with success on their early 911?
Thanks

My RSR flared 72 has all fiberglass panels, except the roof. With a glass fender lip, you simply grind it down and touch up. The lip doesn't do much scructurally for the fiberglass, I'd guess, since the material is thicker than steel.
I've also bumped up to 9.5x11x17 2-piece Fuchs with 255/315 rubber.
