Default Coupe for a Targa?

The folks over on Pelican will tell you that a coupe is worth 900% more than a targa. Ignoring 'value', after owning both I'm longing for another targa... though it's hard to deny the iconic silhouette of the coupe.

I'm looking to trade my 86 coupe with low miles for a similar 86 or newer targa on the east coast. I love my car and not actively looking to sell it so please no PMs asking to buy... unless you have an as nice targa to trade. If you have one shoot me a note and let's talk.

Wow...nice pic. Love the car against the contrasting colors of the house and asphalt. I'd keep it.

That has been the traditional perception but recently the market seems to be more open minded, last month a 73 911S targa was sold at an auction in uk for £195,000 (320,000) I am sure it was concours condition but still it broke all coupe records. I am also seeing a few 87-89 cabs with low miles priced between $85,000 to over $100,000 over in states right now on eBay.

Rapid price hike of past few years has certainly changed market dynamics with new players and demands, perhaps its the astronomical price of the 89 speedster that is affecting the cab and the reintroduction of the proper Targa roof in new 991 that has rekindled the old Targa ... Or it's just that there are not many low mileage old Porsches in great condition out there so buyers/investors are just buying whatever they can get their hands on.

But for sure its a new game out there and old rules do not necessarily apply.

Beautiful coupe. What color is the interior and what do you consider low miles?

Are you willing to sell outright? If so, I'm interested.

Swap wheels and decklids along with the trade and it would be just like your coupe transformed into a Targa overnight!

I love your red coupe, it looks gorgeous! +1 on pics of the interior!
