Default Wiring Harness

There is a fellow who makes really nice engine wiring harnesses. He's done one for a friend with a Carrera 3.0 and it is as good as it gets. The friend is an airframe/power specialist who worked for Gulfstream for quite a few years before being hired to handle the fleet for a Fortune 500 company. He's picky as they get, almost to a fault.

The "harness man" was asked to cease his activities over on Pelican as they wanted him to sell through them with a "slight" (ahem) bump in price. (The harness thread was deleted as well)
The critique is how do you advertise and sell a wiring harness out of a catalog? His stuff is made to order and while they can be the same it's inevitable that someone is going to have a car that's been modified and his won't work and then.....well, you know the rest. He-said she-said and all kinds of finger pointing and general unhappiness.

I have suggested a very simple website but for now he's going on word of mouth referrals which anybody who has ever sold anything knows is the best advertising there is.

This is a hobby for him as his real job makes this work more or less "child's play". We had a lengthy talk one afternoon and his real job came up. He lost me after the 2nd sentence.

The hobby sure can use the support of cottage industries like his.

Great tip, Tom.

I like supporting people like him as I'm a firm believer in keeping the "cottage industry" alive & healthy in this country.

He's been in the Early S Registry Magazine and is a member over there. I think that the products will be listed in an ad soon. Goes by the handle "timmy2". Straight shooter. My kind of guy.

And, since he's in your back yard I'm guessing you know of him!

Best,

Tom

Thanks guys,
Pelican has re-instated my classified ad while they try to figure out how to deal with these types of services.
Good to go for now I guess.
I am building a simple website for my harnesses, stay tuned.

Cheers,
Dennis

Keep it up Dennis,it's sad how Pelican now needs to cash in on services provided by their members ... wonder if they're going to try to make money on Lenny's fuel lines next ???

Cheers
Phil
