2.7 to 3.0 swap questions -fuel sytem
I am putting a 3.0 SC into a '75 carrera. A friend is doing the work, so some of this is second hand.
The fuel accumulator is different, anyone know if they can be interchanged. I think the return line arrangement is the issue.
Are the pumps interchangeable? Are later pumps for the motronic style system OK to use? I don't know the fuel pressure requirements, but those pumps seem to easier to find for less money.
How long is the pump supposed to run when you first turn on the key?
Thanks,
Art

Art,
I'm considering a similar engine swap for my '77 911S. How did you decide on the 3.0 versus a 3.2 or a rebuild of the 2.7?
Thanks and good luck with your '75

Art- The accumulator you will need has 3 ports on it as opposed to 2. There is one on the bottom and 2 on the top. The fuel pumps have different pressures and the later pumps wont work.

Thanks Joe,
Do you know about the pump run time when the key is just turned on? Mine runs without shutting off. I thought they were just supposed to pressurize the system and shut of until the engine was cranked.

Art- There is a return line back to the gas tank so any unused fuel goes back to the tank. So the pump is running all the time. The added thrd line on the accumulator taps in on that line and goes into the bottom of the accumulator to provide extra fuel if needed.
