I've had two '86's and now an '88. The G50, once warm, definitely shifts easier and smoother than the 915. Clutch pedal feels about the same stiffness as a 915 with a new cable and good helper spring.

Hands down, the G50 wins in the shifting department, but a well-sorted 915 is no less fun to drive. Get the best car you can find within your budget and don't focus on model year. ANY 3.2 Carrera is a privilege and a hoot to drive.

My heart is set on an 87 with the G50. Now, if I can only find a decent one. I have a looked at $30K+ and they needed around $10K of work. I looked at a car on the other end around $20K and it needed a ton of work - $15K+. I just wonder if I will be able to find something that needs nothing/little in the $30K's?
