A friend just gave me a Weltmiester front strut brace for my 1985 911.
My question is...... on the mounting plate there is a little tab that is supposed to slide into the grove on the strut bolt (sorry for the poor explanation)
The little tab prohibits the spindle from turning... but isn't the spindle supposed to turn???? I thought that was the purpose of the strut bearing.
This may be right but it just seemed a little weird and I wanted to make sure this was not a specialized bar or something.
Does anyone else run a welmiester brace???
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

I can't be of direct help however:
Wayne Dempsey's book has the weltmeiter cambermeiste strut brace install as one of the 101 projects. It should have the info you are looking for. Do you own the book? Worth getting for the other 100 projects if it doesn't help on the strut brace.

I have the Weltmeister strut brace in my 911. The tab does prevent the strut shaft from rotating.
The OEM set-up was a tabbed washer that prevented the strut shaft from rotating.

Why would they put a bearing in??? A bearing would suggest movement / rotation???
How long have you had it installed???
Have you had any problems with it.... any abnormal ware etc......
Thanks,
Paul

I have had the strut brace installed for about 4 years. No abnormal wear or other bad effects.
What bearing are you talking about? No bearing in my strut brace.
