Default Ideas for front valance

I need to fit my 88 narrowbody coupe with an oil cooler that requires a size large enough to put in the front of the car. To accommodate this I need to put a new or used lower front valance in. I haven't seen anything I liked, other than the RUF square box valance but they are no longer available. I am open to ideas, thoughts, and suggestions. But time is running out.
Thanks for whatever sites you can reccomend or pictures you can send.

The RUF web site shows the front spoiler kit for narrow bodies, made of polyurethane - guess you've inquired directly to RUF on it's status. I installed one with the RUF cooler on my SC. PU is real nice as it won't shatter like fiberglass - important when lowered and/or driving on craggy roads. The cooler had left-to-right flow for max cooling and a slight curve to fit nicely on the valance.

I love the RUF design and the fact it is poly, but they stopped making them, and the were very pricey...

Up front pricey, yes. But the third time you're taking a fiberglass valance off to repair it due to cracking induced from parking curbs, hard scruffing the road, or going agricultural, maybe it's not so expensive. Too bad they aren't making them anymore, they are/were well designed and well made. Have you checked with any of their distributors? There was one place in NJ (Stefania Corp?) and Weissach in Canada (whose price may test your resolve to buy). You might contact RUF again and ask for their distributors, if you want to locate one.

Bill V,

Very Nice.

Where did you get the valance? Are they still around?

Thanks,

Huh? Stopped making them?

Bought this PU unit about 6 months ago from RUF in Germany. It was bought 6 months AFTER local Official (supposedly) North American RUF distributor told me the PU unit was unavailable. If you really want a PU unit, I'd recommend you send an e-mail query to RUF directly.

Best of luck in your pursuit!

I used a fiberglass 964 front bumper. Saves 30-40 lbs. Got rid of the older looking bellows, etc. Plenty of room for an oil cooler. Pretty inexpensive also. If you don't want to run a front plate, you can slot part of this area to increase the airflow.

Vertex Auto and I believe Better Bodies, sell a fiberglass version of the RUF spoiler. Vertex had it for ~$350.

Got my f/g Ruf style from Brad at BW Motorsports. Superb quality at the average price.

Go to the pelican board and search "Valence". There's a lot there.
