Default What are these called?

I know I've seen these collars discussed here before, but I can't remember what they are called. When I opened up the RH chain case on my SC I found these.

Main reason I want to know is so I can find out how to reinstall them when I put the thing back together; i.e. exactly where on the tensioner plunger to they go. These appear to be right up at the end next to the idler pulley.

Also note the "black stuff" with rivulets in it below the tensioner, almost like a sludge but removes easy.

The collar looks to be flush with the top of the tensioner piston. You could slide a feeler gauge in there to confirm if you don't want to eyeball it.

Just googled "911 tensioner locks"

Looks after market. They look like safety stops to prevent a total collapse of the tensioner should the tensioner fail.

They break if they're not torqued 100% correct. Meaning verrrrrry lightly.

Thanks for the information; just what I was looking for.

I checked the clearance on the one pictured this morning. Almost 3mm between the stop and the tensioner body and almost flush with the end of the piston. Probably not correctly installed unless there is some leeway.
