Default Is this car anything special??

Hey all,
Just visiting from the 928 list. I found this car on the website of the guy who sold me my 89 GT.

(Real nice guy with some great cars) He says there were only 100 of these ever made. I like 911's, but know little about them.

Anyway, I have NO AFFILIATION OR RELATIONSHIP with this guy. Was just VERY impressed with the service I got and thought this car might be a find for someone on this list.

Thanks for the bandwidth.

There were only 100 of the '88 anniversary edition Carrera cabs imported into the US. About 300 total anniversary edition Carreras were sold in the US, out of a total production of about 875 anniv. ed. cars. It's a nice looking car, but only an appearance option over the std. Carrera. No additional performance features.

The marginal quality pic's are not very helpful in really determining this car's value. I think the dealer's dream of $30k+ for this car is a joke. They couldn't get that price two years ago, back when the economy hadn't yet tanked. If they get mid-20's they should count themselves lucky. Just this person's 2¢.

Oh, OK. Like I said, I don't know much about 911's. Just thought it might be a find for someone. Thanks!

I believe that is the commermerative eddition in 88. I have the same car with turbo tail and front lip. Anniversary may have been in 89, but was not in diamond blue with signature seat.

I'm not sure what they called the '88, but here's a pic of my '89 Silver Anniversary car.

The 88 Diamond Blue commemorated the 250,000 911 to roll off the line or something like that. The 89 anniversary was the 25th year of 911, I think . . . Anyway, the one for sale at the dealer above is not the anniversary model. It is the commemorative. The 88 commem cab production numbers that made it to America were probably less than that dealer's quoted number, but he obviously is already rather poud of that car so no reason to tell him the production number of the commem cab to the states may be lower.

To answer the question about anything special, I think the Diamond Blue color is very cool looking and the blue crushed leather, black leather and blue grey carpets make for a very attrative interior. These are the only Diamond Blues. The 89 anniversary was delivered in at least silver and black, and maybe some other colors as it may have been an option package that could have been ordered in 1989.

Nice car!

Everyone else:
Thanks for the info. Sounds like it is not that collectible/that good of a deal. I was just thinking of my Porsche brothers and thought there might be some interest. All my best!

Looks like a nice car - but over 30K? Not in todays market place.

I'll attest to the Diamond Blue - especially on a cab - very cool. In pictures it has a violet/purple tinge to it. Full Sun and it looks like "smoky silver" On a rainy day it looks metallic blue.

Unfortunately they came with only 15" color coded fuchs. Nice looking car though.

Here's mine...
