Default Wanted: targa glass installer, Boston area.

I give up. My new seal is tight and I don't want to ruin the seal as they are extinct and expensive. Had two aborted attempts tonight and just fed up. Need to get this car together. Anyone know of a good glass installer with targa glass experience in Boston area?

The rear Targa glass is an absolute nightmare .. it is very heavy. akward and tough to do right without experiance. My only advise is make sure you get the inner bar inbefore you pu th rear galss in . the one that slides in from the back and you have to catch the little hooks with.

Tried rope etc. I just have lots going on and can't fight the thing anymore. Don't want to wreck a $400 seal that is NLA as it is a 964.

installed the rear glass myself using straps that went across the glass and anchored to a 2x4 on the ground. When I need more down pressure, I just crank down on the strap pulley. The key is aligning the glass on the frame perfectly, if not, you have to start again. I started on the engine end first to the 1/4 panel. Then I started on the bar end down to the corners. The sides of the glass needs to be pushed in to meet the frame (I couldnt believe how much flex it had while pushing the glass in towards the Targa bar. Last, when the corner is in, finish roping in towards the 1/4 panel... I thought putting the seal and molding on the glass was tougher than the actual glass install. Glass install was @4 hours.

sounds complicated, but it was a simple setup because I can use the lift to pinch the 2x4 in place.

this is sort of the day after... wish I took a shot of it while it was set up. but the, tie down strap was attached to the 2x4 and laid out across the 1/4 panels and rear window. You move the straps up/down the glass in the area you are working on (better than having 2 guys pressing down on it). Just tighten down on the straps when you are ready to pull the rope inside the car.... The Targa glass is very strong, just work slow. I double looped the rope, but actually got the seal in one try with the rope.

simple home depot tie down straps...

yes, there are 2 jacks between the ramps to lift the car off the wheels. I added an extra section on top of the garage door and raised the tracks up closer to the ceiling. Extended the steel bar from the garage opener to the door. Notice the garage door has a little overhang at the entrance (this is due to the extra section I added on top).
