Hello everyone,

A former 944, 944S, and 912 owner, I was in search of a project 914 when I found this beautiful 911SC near my parent's house. Although a little outside of what I wanted to spend, I've always wanted a targa top and a 911, and this one fits the bill as the quintessential 911 that I've imagined parled in the garage all these years.

Wow, first day with tags on it. Top off, nice fall weather. Nothing like the sound and feeling of the flat 6 behind you. So glad I bought something I shouldn't have

Can someone tell me what this oil gauge is for?

That is an oil level indicator. It will only be accurate once you're near or at operating temp of 194 F or 60 C. This equates to the first mark on the engine temp gauge. You can see Celsius marks way back under the edge of the gauge. Once it's warmed up your oil level gauge shows you the level of oil. But you should always rely on a dipstick measurement (should be between two marks). Again - get car to operating temp first. This requires driving it - not just idling the car for a few minutes. Lastly - it is normal for this gauge to hit red level during acceleration - and bounce around in general while driving.
