What is the forum's collective opinion on what is happening with the values of 3.2 Carreras. By way of example: If an '88 Targa costs $25000 now, what would you reasonably expect the depreciation to be over 5 years?

I just had that same conversation last week with a shop that sells Porsches and other high end cars in Raleigh. He said the values are steadily climbing on good 3.2 Carreras and of course there is a high demand as well since they are so popular and are the ones we all wanted when we were younger.
I would think it would definitely appreciate over 5 years.
He asked me if I was interested in selling my car... Umm. No.

A late model Carrera is most likely staring at an expensive top end rebuild in the near future. Doesn't this affect an asking/taking price of $25,000 or so, and so called appreciation over 5 years?

That is simply not true. IMO, any with the overblown "valve guide issue", have probably been rectified by now.

Attached are some pictures of the car. Dark Blue. 68K miles. Mechanic(who is an indie Porsche shop) says there is nothing to do to the car now except the usual valve checks and oil changes.
Waiting to talk to the owner for more info. Usual things like gas dampers will have to be replaced.

Demand from Europe, especially Germany, has driven 3.2 prices up strongly. Especially G50 cars that are original, low mileage examples. The best ones are fetching $40k+ from buyers and sellers who understand what's happened to the market. The ones selling in the 20's have high miles, issues, modifications or damage history.
