Just my opinion, but low miles to me means under 50k. For some examples of the high $$ cars I'm referring to, look at Tim Holt's inventory at Holt Motorsports. He usually has a number of G50 Carreras that are 100% original with mileage under 20k. He prices them in the $40k's and he sells them for that. He sells a lot of them to German dealers who come over and buy 3 or 4 at a time to fill an ocean container. They've been selling for $80k+ over in Germany (USD equivalent). As a result, the supply of these pristine time capsules is just about gone. For additional examples, look at the cars and prices that Richard Sloan and Truspeed are asking (and getting). They are all dealers, and the cars don't move quickly, but they move. Obviously, I'm talking about the very top of the market here, but in answer to the original question about where 3.2 values are headed, my guess is they'll continue to appreciate moderately. But, most of the appreciation will probably be realized by the really good ones (original, relatively low miles), not so much the driver-quality ones. Just my guess, based on what happened to the 356 and early 911 markets.

I'm sorry but I have to question that theory somewhat that all of the "European" demand is forcing prices up...
Hell this kind of sudden appreciation hasn't been realized in the collector car
market since the late eighties and some not all of us were here to see what
occurred when that bubble burst.
Now back to my original suggestion, sure a good amount of demand where
supply doesn't exist is being felt from the Euro and Asian markets where
the currency is stronger at least momentarily than the US dollar.
Where all the pressure is coming from in my opinion is that higher escalating
prices of early 911's '66-'73 long hoods have priced many want to be Porsche
owner out of the market ...
Therefore turning their purchases more towards mid year and SC's , Carrera's as well.
Hell an '87 G50 Carrera is what ? a 26 year old car !
As long as demand in early 911's outstrips supply which will continue.. these prices
will continue to climb ,maybe not as drastically as an early S but hey who's
complaining...? Bert

I think your question has been answered. Barring financial calamity in the world, there is no reason to expect depreciation over 5 years.

I'll complain about the rise-I didn't get into the hobby as an investment. Rising prices will effect people's attitudes to these cars-either guys selling crap while trying to "get rich", or people with really nice cars afraid to enjoy them, or???

To get a good indication of prices overhere in europe use the german site mobile. All europe is using this. Prices of decent 3.2s start around 23.000 euro's.

I love the 3.2s and would have one any day. I believe the 3.2s already reached bottom and we shouldn't go lower than where prices were a few years ago. Too much car for the money. But 26k euros now is far from USD 80k. I wouldn't expect crazy prices in five years, with or without "bubbles", unless we find a 2 miles car, hand built by the man himself. A 993 GT2 just sold for around 500k in California, but that came from a smaller litter than the 75,000+ units sold for the 3.2. For me, one of e strongest points in favor of a 3.2 is it being a drivers car, not an investment.

I bought mine two years ago for $18k off a friend! It also had all the suspension mods already done to it in my sig, the cat bypass and the prototipo. It had 77k on the clock and now has 80k. I think it's worth an easy $25k and that's what I have it insured for. I think it will keep climbing as well. IMO, the 80's Porsches are iconic.

I have to say, i'm just not sure that the 3.2 market is really that strong. I put my 86 coupe up for sale a few months ago asking $20k and then lowered to $19k expecting to be talked down a bit from there. It has 102k miles and minor issues - nothing major. Crickets. Granted my sale attempt was somewhat halfhearted (see, honey, i tried to sell it and no one wanted it!...guess i have to keep it) and i didn't put really nice pics up (sabotaged myself...oh the humanity), but i was pretty surprised at just how little interest there was. Didn't think i would have to really try hard to sell this thing.

Maybe the premium for very low mile collector quality vehicles is going up. But for the running, usable, weekend car, i don't see evidence that demand is that strong.

Even though 100k on a well maintained Porsche is not bad, it will turn off a majority of the non well versed pubic.

I disagree , here's my 115k miles 3.2 and every time I take her to a Porsche gatherings I get lots of offers , but its not for sale
