As what Peter Z said specially the first 2 ask me I know. Mine ( plate light housing and lens) flew cracked and a goner (crispy) as I forgot to disconnect the two wires dismounting the US bumper while I was doing my euro bumper install.
1. Remove the license plate light lens
2. Remove the license plate light; disconnect the two wires

those things are pretty cheap anyway .. its amzing what that bulb can do to that assembly over the years .. mine just crumbled in my hands what i took it out .
