Thanks guys. I also found a good shop for ppi. I often go there for work anf they aleays have a few older 911s there. He advised a full ppi if im considering a modded car.

Targa was a bust. Back to the wide body blue car. Any other opinions?

As a recent buyer, I'm going to stray from the others' opinions. I don't know where all these nice cars in the teens are, but they are nowhere around here. Based on your description, I don't think $22k is out of line, if you were to walk in with $20k cash, and they took it, I would be extremely happy with that. Others have said they spent high teens on a car with 5 ft paint, well, add the body work to get it to that $22k car's condition, and you're at $22k easy. Get a PPI, if the mechanicals check out, that car is not a bad buy. Although it's not original, it's been tastefully done.

That's my long winded way of saying, if you like it, it's not a bad financial decision, go buy it. Good luck!

I find it hard to believe there aren't nice original cars in the low $20's. Have you joined PCA as a provisional member to access the PCA ads?

Car prices are going nuts right now, Sports Car Market Newsletter is the best BR reading since the Sears catalog, and I read it every month... 5 minutes at a time...

Small bumper 911s are topping $100K, and some schmuck paid $120K for an Alfa Duetto!!!

All bets are off.

I still think a nicely maintained 1978-1988 911 is a great car, but I'm guessing that $25K is minimum buy-in for a car you'd actually like to own... up at least 20% from last year.

I'd still call this a bargain, but... Caveat Emptor.

Starting to consider just getting a 370z for weekend car, but really still want the classic raw feel. Wish I still had my gti while trying to decide.

Neither a GTI or a 370Z (couldn't ever understand the appeal of them) are remotely close to a 911. Good luck, however.

HUH?

I have one word for you, son....

"C5 'Vette"

Oh, I guess that's two words.... or, like, three, or you-know, like whatever?

Waiting for a price on an 88 coupe that just came on market. Based on others cars they are selling my guess is over 30k. Hoping lower. Otherwise think ill just wait and hope to find something by summer.
