Nice car! Looks very similar to mine - but without the tail and my color is "Meteor Grey Metallic" but it sure looks like yours... must be the lighting. Yes, you'll find the steering very heavy at slow speeds. Are you just used to power steering?
Edit: I put in a Blaupunkt CD player in mine - looks very similar to the stock cassette player. I really don't like out of place modern CD players in older dashboards... completely ruins the look IMHO.

I did some quick research before I purchased it and realized going in, that it had the Turbo tail. I haven't decided yet, but may remove the tail and return the car to a slick rear end. There aren't many roads up here on the Peninsula for higher speeds anyway. My main concern will be matching the paint.
The first owner had most of the mods done. But I've found that new torsion bars, Bilsteins and a strut brace were all installed within the last 6,000 miles.
As original as it is in appearance, I'm tempted to pull the Alpine radio and replace it with a Blaupunkt. I'd have to give up the iPod, but I didn't exactly buy the car to listen to music!
I'm having fun now prepping the car for a big PCA weekend up on Vancouver Island at the end of the month. I had the headlights out to clean their interiors. Dang, these cars are easy to work on!

So, Opo, if I remove the tail my wheels get wider; cool! ![Cool](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)
Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I need to look into what it will entail to fill in eight or ten mounting bolt holes and repaint the deck. My main concern is getting a paint match. This car is completely original and, while not concours, is one hell of shine and show queen.
As far as steering effort goes; if my wife is happy with it, there should be no problem. If she's not happy with it--I guess she's not driving. What a pity.

You might be interested in Paul Frere's excellent book "Porsche 911 Story". There is a section in which he lists Porsche's factory windtunnel data on aerodynamic lift at the front and rear axles for the varying types of wings: no wing, duck, Carrera, Turbo, and 993 tails. With your current front spoiler, the choice for high speed straight line stability would be the Carrera tail. That aside, there are many choices from an aesthetic standpoint that stand apart. One other interesting aspect of the tail is that there is some additional cooling effect offered by a tail with vents located at the high pressure (upper) side of the tail.
I can't tell from the pics, but do you have 6 inch front wheels? You may notice a lighter steering effort if you try another wheel and strut combo, such as a 7 inch wheel and RSR strut setup, which changes your offset. You can also just eliminate the spacers. You might also check your suspension settings for a lot of negative camber, which the PO might have done to get the wheels to fit with the spacers.
