Removing Starter from 77 911 3.0 (ROW)
Hi any tips on pulling a starter off a 77 911 3.0.
One bolt is very accessible, the other as you are aware is in a tough spot. It is also one of those Hex bolts I believe. It is shaped like a bullet with the tip cut off. What side of the car should I attack this from? Ant suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

I was intimidated before I took mine out, but really a piece of cake. You will need to reach over the top to get at the top bolt but not nearly as hard as the manual indicates. I worked from the passenger side. Mine is a 2.7, not sure if there is a difference in this procedure, but doubt it.

David,
The top nut is similar to that of the cylinder nuts (barrel nuts) and you need an extra long Allen wrench. If I remember correctly, the Allen wrench is either 8 or 10 mm. Get the right tools and enjoy tinkering your car. Have fun......

I took the correct sized allen wrench.(cant remember the size)cut off the "L" and had the long part welded into a socket. Then I used a ratchet and short extension. Peice of cake.
Good luck.
