Default Mystery Module

While cleaning up my 1987 911, I have been removing some wiring and things that no longer belong. the one picture will show a "cliff alarm" unit, apparently so old I could find no reference to. The mystery module is a 3 wire black box attached to the firewall right above, and in the way of the "smugglers box".

The module had nothing to do with the alarm, but the orange and red wires come through to the interior, and then disappear under the passenger carpeting. There are no identifying marking on the module, and the wires have been spliced several time, so I am thinking, (not the same as knowing) that these were not original, and just wonder if anyone would have an idea what it may be connected to. The module has a red LED on it.

That looks like an old motion/shock sensor.

+1 for motion sensor

The second picture is the transceiver of an antique in car cell phone. I remember installing those. Could be a Novatel, NEC or even Uniden?

It's good that you are cleaning the unneeded stuff up-they only seem to feed electrical gremlins over time.

Thanks for the help everyone, but if anyone cares to answer, what exactly did the motion/ shock sensor actually do? Just curious . . .

Probably activated the Clifford alarm as either a motion, or glass break, sensor. Trace those wires, find out where they go, and get rid of them.

Be sure to check at the ignition switch. Those are the most insidious wire of all.

Thanks, I'll be "all over it" this weekend.
Did not understand why the led was on the module, and it was placed inside the front hood, where it could not be seen, anyways, here today, gone this weekend . . .

It's just like the led in your motion sensor on your wall or security light, it would light up when activated so you could adjust the sensitivity. There's probably a little adjustment screw under the tape somewhere. But you can just trash it all anyway. All this stuff is solid state these days.
