hmmm wow .. maybe he is a big football fan and thats his omage to the superbowl and the goal posts ?

Or Maybe it is some sort of Porsche fire truck and thats how he extends the fire ladder up to the building ?

or maybe like Kevin said he put the basket handles up there and decided he didnt like them so needed soemething else to disract the eye .. coz i didnt notice the basket handle right away.

Either way thats a lot of holes to fill in that deck lid.
