Introducing "Oslo" my 73 RS backdated 1986 Carrera
UPDATED WITH NEW TARGA CALIFORNIA 2013 pics starting at Post # 21
It was a great day here in Central Wyoming to wash the car and then go for a spirited drive down my favorite local prairie throughway, Hat Six Road. This car is a new addition to my garage as of last September. It started life as a 1986 Carrera, black over tan. About three years ago the prior owner decided it was time to go ahead with his backdating project and then as they say "let the games begin". The color chosen for the backdate is Oslo Blue, a 356B color from 1962/1963. Digital cameras don't seem to pick up the correct hue, as with any 911, it's better in person!
You can follow his build process on this link on Pelican, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...-backdate.html
I purchased the car from "porschenut" (911Dave on this forum) last September, actually it was the evening of 9/11/2012.
In October I took it down to Mayo Performance in Euless. Tom Petrushka at Mayo's put in a new engine from one of his client's 87 Carrera that had recently been in an unfortunate high speed encounter with a donkey, the 911 was totaled but the donor engine is fantastic and it only had 22000 miles since being rebuilt. As I plan to use the car for many road trips the wrecked 911 also donated a brand new air conditioning system and we installed all new components for the heating system.
It's not an authentic long hood, but for a much lower investment in $$ I have a wonderful road car that impresses me every time I take it out on the road.
It's West Coast debut will be at Targa California this April.

Beautiful work, nicely done!
The authenticity of the interior and exterior parts used in this example all work together to represent a timeless 911 look. The color is sweet too.
This is not an easy thing to do from other projects I've seen where owners choose pieces that don't seem to marry well and leaves their project looking like something is off.
Enjoy and thank you for sharing.

Thanks everyone
Thanks for all of the great comments. It was through the magic of rennlist that I found this car to begin with. The prior owner had a C4S for sale and through the legend in his ad I found out about this car. Great community of 911 owners and a great resource for learning about Porsches !!
