Default Spoiler question

There is a debate about (P site) wether Porsch issued cars with the front lip rubber spoiler and no rear spoiler from the factory.
I've always assumed yes they did as I've seen so many.
Some are saying Porsche only produced cars with both spoilers or no spoiler.
Who knows for sure?

I 'got schooled'...I've seen so many 911's with a front and no rear spoiler I 'assumed' it could be ordered that way.
Looks like the factory only sold sets of f/r and most front lips were added after the fact.
I suspect most here knew that.

Nope.... My '89 Targa was ordered from the factory with front lip and w/o rear spoiler.

Sorry to disappoint the others

I wonder if the dealer added it or did it arrive that way...I know that'll be the response so front loading.

check out Paul Frere's excellent book, "Porsche 911 Story". There is a comprehensive summary of the spoiler options, and Porsche aerodynamic testing data for 911s through the 993.

I saw that and ordered it from Amazon...I'll do that. I'd like the in depth spoiler data anyways as I've just added a duckt.

Hi all, I want a duct tail rear spoiler complete with grill. Anyone got one laying about for sale? I'ts to suit my 89 Carrera.
Colour is no issue cause I am willing to paint it. Also, will need to send to Sydney Aust, naturally at my cost.

Cheers.

3.2....I suspect your dealer added the lip not the factory, this from a guy that picked his up in Germany from the factory.

When we took factory delivery of our '86,
we stopped in at the factory service center
during the course of our 500 mile service,
and requested the installation of a front spoiler.

The answer from the service manager was NO due to aerodynamic imbalance.

The front (chin) spoiler was installed when the car arrived at the local dealer.

No issues with the installation or street performance.
