911 SC steering rack removal
Hi,
The steering rack of my 1982 911SC is worn and has a sticky dead spot in when the steering wheel is centered. I have been trying for some time to remove the rack but it does not seem to want to come out. Unlike other people who have removed the rack, the splined steering shaft does not seem to be sticking in the coupler; I can feel it slide back and forth inside the coupler. There just doesn't seem to be enough room for the rack to come out. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to removing this part? My Bentley's manual does not say that I have to remove the big suspension cross member. Does this part have to be removed before I can take the rack out?
Thanks,
Davis
