Default Importing a car

What costs are involved in importing a car from Europe to the West Coast?
I am trying to figure out whether it is worth the effort to import a '70s Porsche, since some models are more available there than here in the USA.
Thanks

Hi bcgreen,

not sure if this will help, however I did the reverse and you may be able to use the same shipping company.
I imported from California to Norway using Rinkens International located in Paramount CA. They picked up the car in Sacramento and sendt it to Oslo Norway through the Panama Canal for arround $2000. They were realy tidy and nice to deal with and probably have contacts in Europe.
I would suggest finding a car in Italy, Switzerland, Austria or southern Germany. I'm always amazed to see old daily drivers with no rust in these countries. And that includes old Fiats and Alfas.

Contact info:
Steve FeeneyRINKENS INTERNATIONAL 15501 Texaco Ave.Paramount CA 90723Direct line: +1-323-645-4242Phone: +1-310-639-7725 Ext.2106 Toll free (from inside the US) 888-886-6683Fax: +1-310-881-1126FMC License #OTI13055N

Good luck!

Mostly true, but the one notable exception from the 70's would be a Carrera 2.7 coupe.

But I have seen some real rats 2.7s at the dealers along with some good ones
that are price accordingly

If you need me to look at one let me know I have 3 993s I brought over
recently

I've admired your signature vehicle. I assume that is an RS, nice colour.

Thanks much. Yes, a Blood Orange first series RS originally delivered to Switzerland. I was fortunate to buy it almost 10 yrs ago.

If you are looking for a good 911 in Europe you should contact Jurgen at 2 Shores. He's in Germany right now and may be able to help.

I have brought over two Alfa Romeos from Euro to SoCal.
These are more plentiful and cheaper there than here.
Used Wallenius roll-on-roll off for around $2k each. Very good service and they will help with the paperwork on their end. I had temp. registration by the time the cars arrive in the LA area.
