Default Collector Car insurance options......

Currently am working a policy thru rally that is underwritten by american southern home insurance...

the rate is amazing, for $55k coverage (insurance pays full replacement cost if totalled and not a estimated lower price based on market value) they are only wanting around 1k/year (which i feel is very affordable) the only downside is they are saying a maximum of 6k miles per year. (this is for 100/300/100 policy coverage)

my question to you guys are, what are you using for collector car insurance and what mileage does it cover?

i like the price, like the coverage, but dislike the mileage limit..

i called my regular insurance company and to cover the car with a "market value" coverage and not actual value... unlimited miles... the coverage is 1600/yr... so less coverage, but more miles.

My 86 930 is insured via Grundy with a $40k stated value with 100/300/100 coverage for $300 a year. No limit on mileage, just can't use the car as a daily.

Default American Collectors

I have shopped around several times for insurance on three Porsches and found American Collectors to have the lowest rates, about $1,000 a year or 30% under the others.

My 964T is covered with an agreed upon (based on appraisal) value without mileage limitation for under $500. I do however have all my other policies with the same provider.

Default Collector's Insurance.

We have Southern California AAA.

$194 for an agreed value of 25K on our '86.

The club grandfathered us in after revising the
car age criterion.

Really?! I think that's really cheap. I'll try to contact American Collectors and see if they are available in our area. I know lots of factors affects one's premiums when it comes to insurance so let's see what will be the outcome. Thank you again.

i'm also using american collectors. no experience making a claim with them (knock wood) but they've been responsive when making policy changes.
