Bad idea, in my opinion. They usually weigh more and are not nearly as strong as the real thing.

I agree, they do weigh more and are not as strong as the real ones. But, so what. If your not planning on tracking the car and just like the look of the wider wheels go for it. I seriously dont think you will notice the extra weight of those wheels.

The problem with the fake fuchs is that they are typically cast to the same dimensions as the forged Fuchs, and it's not the same strength, ie, the casting would need to be thicker to equal the forged strength. While the fake fuchs may be OK for driving to the supermarket, most PCA clubs will not allow them on the track. If you have a copy of Bruce Anderson's "911 Performance Handbook" or Up-Fixin, there's a picture of a cast wheel that broke. Forged wheels bend on impact.

If you really really want Fuchs, buy them. They are around. The Turbo offset 8's are typically pricier than the 911 offset 8's, and you just need to keep looking, put wanted ads out, etc. Some people price them as if they're the last on earth, so you may have to look for a bit. If you want a Fuchs look-alike, HRE makes one, probably pricey, but top notch quality.

Thumbs down

As always, I agree with Bill Gregory. The last thing you want a wheel to do in an accident is break. This allows deceleration energy to be absorbed by things other than the wheel, you perhaps? Fuchs 8" wheels are an incredible wheel. If made today, mnost people could not afford them...hence the factory doesn't make them. Advise against fake wheels!!!

Again if you dont plan on taking the car to the track, go for it. You guys act like the wheels just break in half driving down the road. I personally dont have them, but if it was strictly for looks I'd buy them. Without Question the Quality and strengh of the Fuchs are better. Personally because my car is a track car I wouldn't buy them. I think it really just depends on your needs and wants.
