I have a 76 911 with old european (plastic with metal centers and ends). The low beam wasn't working so I traced it to a bad old fuse. When I went to buy the new fuses the auto parts store sold me bus glass fuses of the same amps.He assured me it's the way to go, better then the originals. They seem to work, but I don't like to screw around when it comes to the electrics of the car. Is this okay?

Steve,
I agree with your caution on Porsche fuses. I found the European style - albeit with plastic instead of ceramic - at the local Pep Boys. I am sure other major parts places have them.
If the glass ones have flat ends instead of tapered, there could be some chance of them coming out.
