Post Exhaust removal

I have located my "factory" muffler for the 73. I will be removing my 2in/2out system. I have SSI's. Will I be able to get thids thing off??
I can grind the small weld on the bracket, but as far as removing the bolts..will they budge?? I can soak them in penetrating fluid over night.
And, if need be even cut the nut off and maybe push the bolt through. But if that is not possible I don't even want to get started. As loud as the car is now, if I was to get this thing half off and then have to drive to a shop I would attract the wrong attention for sure...What are my chances here??

Worst case you might have to cut the nuts off the bolts to the head exchagers. No big deal, a cutting wheel or hacksaw will do the trick. I would use new hardware anyway, new gaskets too. Like you said soak the bolts and the straps too and you should be ok. Take your time and have fun!

And when you put it back together put a light coating of anti-seize compound on the bolts and you won't have this problem in the future. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

cut mine off yesterday, then had to pound out the rest of the bolt. Once the ends are cut off you can pound them out they aren't threaded!!

Thanks for help. I was concerned about the entire bolt being threaded. Guess I'll give it a shot. Everyone here thinks it will go OK. Got the new gaskets and I'll put some anti-sieze on. The joys of DIY

BTW: DO these gaskets self seal or do I need something on them before locking down the exhaust??
